Feeding a Friend

I'm Jaime Andrés Torres Navarro, a English level 5 student from Universidad del Norte, I'm finishing my first semester. I identified homeless dogs as a problem. My goal was feed homeless dogs, help them to get a home and make them happier. I expected to learn hard-working, how to make a plan, how to organise my materials, and how to work with dedication and love.

I though homeless dogs is a problem, because they are living creatures, they also feel hungry, they feel sad and, in some cases, they are hurt. So, I planned to visit the zones where homeless dogs use to be, like Villa Campestre, then, I prepared the materials, I talked with Huellitas Amigas, who is a foundation for dogs, and they accepted to work with me. Every Monday and Friday I was at Villa Campestre with dogs food, brochures and a smile. The dogs seemed happy and I was too. People at there also donated some food and a few of them helped me to distribute brochures. In case of someone wanted to adopt a dog, he must talk with Huellitas Amigas and he must certificate that he would take care of the dog. It was an enriching experience.

The most enjoyable part of this project was feeding the dogs. Seeing them happy made me glad, and the way they thanked has no price. Then, the most important thing I learnt, was that it's not necessary do great things to make a significant impact. We all can do important things, it doesn't matter how little they are, the matter is help and make the environment better.

This experiences was amazing and exciting. Seeing how people contribute is proof that we all could do great things if we work together. Also, when I realised that I was doing something good, I felt useful. And the most important things are that now, there're less homeless dogs, now some people have found their happiness adopting a dog, and those dogs will be happy too.
